Ditching a sweet tooth isn’t easy, especially during the holiday season. Sugar can get to the best of us and, oftentimes, not even savory “healthy” foods are safe! It hides in everything from pasta sauce and salad dressings, to trail mixes and...chicken wings.
But committing to healthy choices doesn’t mean you have to eat boring food (ew). Today I’m sharing a Buffalo Cauliflower and Chicken Wings recipe from the new 21 Day Sugar Detox Daily Guide by Diane Sanfilippo.
So if you’re embarking on a New Years Resolution to kick sugar cravings or you simply want a reset after the holidays, read on.
What is the 21 Day Sugar Detox?
Before you roll your eyes at “detox”, let’s be clear: there are NO: shakes, powders, or pills (never ever), or even calorie counting. Just nutrient-dense food. Ok, moving on.
The 21 Day Sugar Detox (21DSD) is a simple, 3 week program designed to help you eliminate sugar cravings, balance your blood sugar, and learn how to choose healthy options.
There are 3 levels to the program based on lifestyle: If you’re transitioning from the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.), start at Level 1. A seasoned real-food enthusiast? Go for level 3. There are even modifications for athletes, pescatarians, pregnancy, and autoimmune disorders.
The 21 Day Sugar Detox Daily Guide
This book is a comprehensive guide and journal with a full program meal-plan and references along the way. The nutrition information is easy to digest (ha!) and the 70 recipes are simple.
The writing prompts may be one of my favorite parts of the book - Food & Mood journals are an excellent tool that I use with nutrition clients.
Tracking the food you eat and how it makes you feel can provide valuable insight to hidden food intolerances or sensitivities. Reflecting also helps you celebrate your non-scale victories and remember why you started when the challenge feels tough.
